Nixon Criticizes
Begin Position

NEW YORK — Former
President Richard Nixon
said that Israel Prime
Minister Begin should drop
his "hard-headed view" and
act now to defuse the Middle
East situation or Israel will
be "submerged by 100 mil-
lion Arabs."
Speaking on the "Good
Morning America" program
Friday, the former
President said Israel has
won five wars and predicted
that it will win the next one,
too. However, he added that
"in the end, it will be sub-
merged by 100 million
Arabs, in my view, and
that's why they should
make their deal now and de-
fuse that situation."
