Dr. Paul Pearsall of the
Problems of Daily Living
Clinic at Sinai Hospital will
be the guest of Adat
Shalom's sisterhood and
men's club 8 p.m. Wednes-
day at the synagogue.
Dr. Pearsall will identify
basic transitional life crises
in the American family and
report on new findings as to
how these crises affect daily
family life.
The public is welcome.

Temple Beth El's First
Annual Richard C. Hertz
Institute on Reform Juda-
ism will be held Oct. 20 and
30. The institute was estab-
lished in memory of
Manuel E. Arden, by his
daughter, Ellin Arden Law-
son, in honor of Hertz, rabbi
emeritus of the temple.
The theme of the institute
is "The Role of Lay Leaders
and Their Congregations in
Reform Judaism Today and
Tomorrow." Albert Vor-
span, vice president, Union
of American Hebrew Con-
gregations and author, lec-
turer and human rights
leader, will be the guest
speaker at the sessions.
At the Shabat services
8:30 p.m. Oct. 29, Vorspan
will speak on "Where Is Re-
form Judaism Going?" At
10:30 a.m. Oct. 30, he will
speak on "The Legacy of
Classical Reform Judaism."
Luncheon will be served at
12:30, followed by an after-
noon session, beginning at
1:30 p.m., when Vorspan's

lecture will deal with "Re-
form Judaism in the Mid-
80s."

moderator at the lunch-
eon session. Participat-
ing in the panel discus-
sion will be Rabbi M.
