Maas has been an in- novator and supplier for the automotive industry since 1918, opening his first plant in Detroit at age 22. Besides the Technion, Maas has benefited the American Society for Crippled Children in Is- rael, the Fresh Air Society, Children's Hos- pital of Michigan, Shrin- ers Hospital for Crippled Children, Temple Beth El Youth Study Program in Israel, Diskin Orphans Home in Jerusalem and scholarships for students in the U.S. and Israel. Dr. Goldman is the na- tional president of the American Technion Society as well as the past president of the Detroit and Pittsburgh Chapters. He recently retired as senior vice president of the Xerox Corp. where as chief technical officer he super- vised its four research laboratories. Previously, Dr. Goldman was director of the scientific research lab- oratory of the Ford Motor Co. A physicist by training, Dr. Goldman has prev- iously served on the fa- culty of the Carnegie In- stitute of Technology and as visiting Edwin Webs- ter Professor at MIT. He has served on the Xerox board of directors and currently is on the board of General Instrument, Bundy, Comtex Scientific and Bank Leumi Trust. He has been on the boards of the Weizmann Institute, Tel Aviv University and Bar-Ilan University and has been chairman of the U.S. Israel Binational Advisory Council on Re- search and Development. NEW YORK (JTA) — A permanent commission to erect a memorial in New York City to the victims of the Nazi Holocaust has been named by Mayor Edward Koch to plan a memorial with a museum, archives and education facilities. A report of the Mayor's Task Force on the Holocaust, named in May 1981, was released which proposed a memorial center housed in an existing build- ing in the city to be financed by $30-$40 - million in pri- vate funds.
