Omega, will honor Dr. Az-
riel ("Azzie") Weller on be-
half of Israel Bonds on Oct.
31 at Cong. Shaarey Zedek.
The luncheon, with recep-
tion at 12:30 p.m. and
luncheon at 1, will see Dr.
Weller, 90, saluted "in
recognition of his many de-
cades of dedicated service to
his chapter, his profession
and the state of Israel." He
will be the recipient of Is-
rael's Maimonides Award,
to be presented by Detroiter
David B. Hermelin, na-
tional campaign co-
chairman for Israel Bonds.
Dr. Weller graduated
from the University of Vie-
nna Medical School and
practiced dentistry in Vie-

Arriving in Detroit to join
his large family here, he
attended the University of
Michigan School of Dentis-
try, graduating in 1936 and
subsequently beginning a
private practice.
He has been a member of
Alpha Omega for- 46 years
and has held numerous
elective offices in the chap-
ter. Dr. Weller is a member
of Cong. Beth Abraham
Hillel Moses; he was chosen
to be one of the Torah bear-
ers when the Torahs were
moved to the sanctuary in
West Bloomfield.

Thomas Hodgkin in Israel.
