Dr. Arthur Feuer, first president of the group and now its honorary chairman, stated that, additionally, an endoscope, for which the group raised $10,000, is already in operation at the Ichilov Hospital. The Oct. 24 dinner-dance will be addressed by Jerome Sobel, president of Cong. Bnai David, who is actively participating in the group's leadership to involve Michigan Jews in the task of financing cancer research in Israel. Mrs. Abba Eban, who heads the parent organiza- tion in Israel, supplemented the local appeal with gratitude to the Michigan associates and with an ur- gent plea for aid in the seri- ous efforts of the resear- chers in Israel. She supplemented Mrs. Eisenberg's plea for aid by indicating that many patients at Ichilov Hospital and by private practitioners receive much possible medi- cal aid with the encourage- ment of the Israel Cancer Association. Among the services provided by the associa- tion are day-care clinics, programs for home care and lecture-study days on the subject of rehabili- tation of cancer patients given by staff members. The Sir Charles Clore Hostel, built by the associa- tion, offers comfortable, medically supervised ac- commodation to cancer patients from all parts of the country. The hostel pro- vides transportation to and from oncological centers in the Tel Aviv area and is used for lodging purposes by patients undergoing chemotherapy. Mrs. Eisenberg reports that the Friends of the Is- rael Center Association in Michigan, founded in 1979, has enrolled many suppor- ters: In addition to the United States, the Israel Cancer Association has the support of chapters in England, Germany, Italy, and South America.
