Betar Protest

Danny Raskin's

WASHINGTON (JTA) —
About 30 members of the
Zionist youth group Betar
demonstrated in front of the
White House Monday in
support of Premier
Menahem Begin's govern-
ment and to protest
President Reagan's peace
plan for the Middle East.

LISTENING
POST

INSTEAD OF THE

drab, walk-on fashion
shows of yesteryears, many
of today have a certain flair
that gives much zip and zest
to the presentations.
Recent example was the
one by Michigan Region of
Women's American ORT
(32 chapters in metro De-
troit) at its membership
luncheon, chairgaled by
membership vp Harriet
Jacobson.
Adat Shalom Synagogue
rocked with a disco beat as
about 400 crals, presided
over by Susan Dubin,
enjoyed the music, dancing
and styles.

The fashion show a la
modern times, produced
by excellent Leah Marks,
was entertaining and
quick-paced ... A lot of
fun packed into 45 min-
utes.

Shirley Becker was her
usual very fine self as nar-
rator . . . Harriett Fuller
helped coordinate the
clothes . . . E.J. Nuccio of
Betty's Place furnished
limousines for press and
personages . . . Marlene
Spinner took care of the
choreography, Video Pro-
files put the show on tape
and Joseph Niri, now a
partner at Heidi's on Tele-
graph and Long Lake Rd.,
did the models' hair.
Curtain on stage of Adat
Shalom social hall opened
unlike any other fashion
show . . . Two girls in flash-
ing red doing disco dancing
. . . Then came the models --
on stage .. . and one-by-one
along the huge runway that
extended and spread out for
all to see.
After the professional
models came Mike Miller,
WXYZ radio; Nancy
McCauley, Channel 2; Sybil
Little, Oakland Press; and
myself in a full-length mink
coat from Bricker-Tunis
Furs.
Some nice door prizes .. .
and even a little laughter
. . . as Radio Shack donated
large flashlights . . . with-
out batteries.

GET WELL WISHES
... to Lee Gurwin (Jerry)

. . . at Sinai Hospital.

BIG BOO BOO DEPT.

. . . Error turned an entire
meaning around in recent
item about Pestasonic Con-
trol distributed by Ben
Schechter and Dave Oliwek
. . . "S" was left off of it get-
ting rid of pests . . . and
wrongly said "pets" . . . It's
actually good for pets .. .
with ultrasonic sounds
doing havoc to nervous sys-
tems of roaches, rats, fleas,
etc. . . . and making them
leave in a big hurry.

THIRD ANNIVER-
SARY celebration of Al
