Counseling Makes the Difference NORFOLK, Va. (JTA) — A local artist has created an 11x7 foot wall-hanging for the Commodore Levy Chapel at the Norfolk Naval Station, described as the oldest permanent Jewish worship facility on any U.S. military installa- tion. Chaplain Arnold Re- snicoff said the chapel was a focal point for Jewish naval personnel throughout the Atlantic Fleet. The wall-hanging, de- artist by veloped Leonette Adler, has the words of the Prophet Isaiah calling for song and praise for "all who sail the sea," stitched against a backdrop of silver moon and roaring waves of blue and white. Resnicoff said the wall- hanging became a commu- nity project for Jewish offi- cers, sailors and wives, who worked in shifts to complete the stitching. SPECIAL SEPTEMBER 23 to 29 SELECT YOUR OWN MONTREAL (JTA) — The Jewish Vocational Service (JVS) of Toronto has reported that Canadian Jews, like their United States counterparts, are be- ginning to experience being jobless for the first time in their working lives. In the Jewish community, the despair which goes with joblessness is compounded by a pride which will not ac- cept the reality but growing numbers are losing their jobs, according to the JVS, as reported by the Canadian Jewish News. The JVS staff has esti- mated there has been a 10 to 20 percent jump in jobless- ness among Toronto Jews during the past year. Pearl Chud, placement center supervisor for the JVS, said this is probably a little lower than the national av- erage in Canada. But, she said, Jews who have worked for many years are being laid off, many of whom have never been jobless before. Radar Planes • Slated for Egypt WHOLE LIVE MAINE LOBSTER $5.99 lb.
