THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS 44 Friday, September 24, 1982 Arab Propaganda Groups Identified NEW YORK — Bernard S. Stern, acting national chairman of the American Professors for Peace in the Middle East, has circulated a letter explaining the background of several groups that have been issu- ing statements on Israel's actions in Lebanon. "In the current prop- aganda battle, a rash of ad hoc_ groups, both attacking "Americans for Peace and defending Israel's ac- tions in Lebanon, have ap- peared in the press and on the streets. Four of these prominently bear the words `peace-justice' and 'concern' in their names and mes- sages. "Since these words are descriptive of my own organization's mission, I should like to cite the fol- lowing_ information: ilAppq — supported through the Palestine Information Office in Washington, D.C. "Americans for Justice in the Middle East — an Arabian American Oil Company (Aramco) bene- ficiary. "Concerned Ameri- cans for Peace — has placed full-page ads in major newspapers purpor- tedly signed by organiza- tions and individuals, but then denied by the supposed signatories. The ads are paid for by money from a Swiss bank. There is no known address for this group in this country. . "Americans Concerned for Middle East Peace — REZO 14€ AR has sponsored trips to Lebanon for congressional aides. Its director, repor- tedly in Beirut, is wanted on 11 bench warrants for his arrest on a variety of charges ranging from fraud to snlieitation of sex from an The FEEL GOOD Store 27759 Greenfeild Road One block N. of 7 7 And the STEIN family, Jerry, Susan, Kendra, & Ralph Adam SAM & SONS FRUIT MKT. undercover officer. He also was a regular visitor to the PLO office in Washington and circulated a report that the Israelis were using a new 'terror bomb,' or so- called vacuum bomb, a charge that was repeated by the Soviet news agency Tass. "I'd also like to point out that many of the students now active in pro-PLO groups seem to be quite venerable for student status. Age 40 is optimum., Our warnings for the past five years about the steady `Arabization' of our college campuses and the pervasion of petrodollar-fed prop- . aganda undoubtedly were accurate."
