UNROMANTIC and
Unappetizing restaurant
scenery . . . Waiters and
waitresses who say, "How
are we doing?" or "What are
we having?" (invite them to
join you so their questions
can be answered) . . . Cup
brought with coffee in the
saucer (a real legitimate
gripe when customer picks
it up and coffee drips on his
or her clothes . . . cleaners
love these waiters and wait-
resses) . . . Buspersons who
half-heartedly clean off ta-
bles (they're half clean, too)
. . . Managers who don't
know how to train waitper-
sons (they must have some-
thing to bluff the owners)
. . . Chefs or cooks who come
out front with dirty aprons
(some even look like they
work in a butcher shop) .. .
Waiters and waitresses who
bring dishes with their
thumb or fingers in the dish
(wouldn't you just love to
bite it off?) . . . And natur-
ally, the waiters and wait-
resses who forget how to
smile or be pleasant (oh, for
only a looking glass to tell
what troubles they bring
with them to work . . . or
why they're so mad at the
world . . . or maybe the
owner).
IS IT TRUE that the Van
Dyke Club doesn't take
reservations from every-
body? . . . They're always
"booked up" far in advance
when people call . . . but tis
said some get in almost im-
mediately . . . and others in
accordance to when open-
ings or cancellations occur
. . . No restaurant is worth
such bother!
A well-adjusted person is
one who makes the same
mistake twice without get-
ting nervous.
