Begin Popular
During War.

TEL AVIV (ZINS) — Op-
eration Peace for Galilee
did wonders for the
popularity of Prime Minis-
ter Menahem Begin and De-
fense Minister Ariel Sha-
ron, according to the last
poll conducted by the Modin
Ezrachi Research Institute.
Who is best suited to be
Premier?" was answered:
Menahem Begin, 51.1 per-
cent; Yitzhak Rabin, 12.7
percent; Yitzhak Navon, 5.7
percent; Shimon Peres, 4.7
percent; Ezer Weizman, 1.1
percent; Ariel Sharon, 0.9
percent; others, 1.6 percent;
undecided, 21.8 percent.
While Foreign Minister
Yitzhak Shamir is also
surging ahead of his Labor
rival, Abba Eban, Finance
Minister Yoram Aridor has
not benefited from the gen-
eral popularity of his party's
government.
The only opposition-
politician who has risen in
the public favor is Yitzhak
Rabin, with both Yitzhak
Navon and Shimon Peres
slipping badly.

Court Ruling
in Libel Case

COPENHAGEN (ZINS)
— The Danish District
Court of Aalborg decided
that anti-Zionism is not
anti-Semitism. The court-
case in question was a libel
suit instituted by Steen
Folke, a member of the
Danish Parliament and
representative of the
Socialist Party, against
Axel Lademann, a member
of the right-wing Progress
Party.
Lademann had charged
Folke with an anti-Jewish
campaign in articles in the
Copenhagen daily Politiken
in which he criticized Israel
and Zionism. Folke then in-
itiated a libel suit against
Lademann, declaring
Lademann's charge to be an
untrue defamation.
The Court ruled in
Folke's favor, deciding that
anti-Zionism is not anti-
Semitism. The case is under
appeal.

Phalangist View

Voice of Lebanon
Radio, July 2

"The Palestinians are
today asked to stop_ lying
and to stop procrastinating
and to deal with reality pre-
cisely as it is. They are
asked to have the courage to
make decisions.
"The policy, trickery, ar-
tifices and nonseriousness
of all the decisions of the
Palestinians have brought
them to this.
"Let them not hold the
Sunn Muslim of Beirut as
they held the Shi'ite Mus-
lim of the south and . . . as
they . . . hold other people -
responsible for all the prac-
tices and the vituperations
they have carried out for 17
years and up to today.
Enough."
— Bashir Gemayel,
Commander of the Phalan- -
gist Militia and now
President-elect of Lebanon.
