The two Israelis, a driver and sound technician, were allowed to walk back to east Beirut last week across the Galerie Semena crossing point between east and west Beirut. They were captured when they drove by mistake into west Beirut which is now controlled by leftv.vin- gers. Another Israel Radio em- ploye, Sara Barkai, a re- porter for the radio's French-language service, was freed Sept. 1 after being captured with her two co- workers because she was holding a French passport. The injunction halted plans by other unions to stage a general strike at Ben-Gurion Airport on Saturday. Other groups who had threatened involvement in the strike included workers for the Electric Corp., Haifa Port, com- munications workers and seamen. Most are paid double-time or triple-time for working on the Sabbath. Meanwhile, all Tel Kviv courts, including the dis- trict and magistrates courts, were closed last Thursday by striking work- ers who barred entry to the public and officials and re- fused to handle telephones and files or do any paper- work. The workers are support- ing a demand by adminis- trative employees for extra payments to equal those re- cently granted to other court workers. The strike prevented the issue of re- mand and release orders.
