Dr. Sanford Bennett, 72, Held
Local, National Zionist Posts

Dr. Sanford Bennett, a
physician for more than 40
years who held important
local and national Zionist
positions, died Aug. 26. He
was 72.
Dr. Bennett was a life
member and former vice
president of the Zionist
Organization of Detroit. He
served as chairman of the
ZOD program committee
and was active in member-
ship and Balfour Concert
committees. He was a
former member of the Na-
tional Administrative
Committee of the Zionist
Organization of Amerida.
Born in New York, Dr.
Bennett was graduated
from Wayne State Univer-
sity Medical School in 1937
and was a 25-year charter
member of the American
Academy of Family Prac-
tice.
He was on the staffs of
Northwest Grace, Mr.
Carmel and Brent Hospi-
tals. Dr. Bennett was a
captain in the Army Med-
ical Corps during World
War II. He was a 34-year
member of Cong Shaarey
Zedek and its men's club.

Charlotte Frank

Charlotte M. Frank, a
member of Jewish com-
; munal organizations, died
Aug. 26 at age 62.
Born in Newark, N.J.,
Mrs. Frank was a member
of Temple Beth El, Franklin
Hills Country Club,
Women's American ORT,
Hadassah and National
Council of Jewish Women.
She leaves her husband,
Jerome J.; three sons, Judge
Edwin Stern of South
Orange, N.J., William
Stern of Baltimore, Md.,
and Keith Frank of
Nashville, Tenn.; a Baugh-
: ter, Mrs. Stanley (Susan)
Schwartz of Highland Park,
Ill.; a sister, Mrs. Henry
(Lois) Herzfeld of Caldwell,
N.J.; a brother, Theodore
Meier of Connecticut; and
six grandsons.

Martin Wallace
Martin Allen Wallace, a
social worker with Metro
Group Services, died Aug.
at age 30.
Born in Detroit, Mr. Wal-
lace earned his master's de-
j' gree in social work from
Wayne State University
last May.
He leaves his parents,-Mr.
and Mrs. Arnold (Harriet)
Wallace; a brother,
Michael; and
- grandmothers, Mrs. Her-
bert (Mary) Wallace and
Mrs. Samuel (Iras) Gordon.

F. M. Charlip

Florence M. Charlip, a
member of Jewish com-
munal organizations, died
Aug. 30 at age 69.
A native Detroiter, Mrs.
Charlip was a member of
Cong. Shaarey Zedek and a
board member of its sister-
hood. She also held mem-
bership in Hadassah.
She leaves a son, Barry; a
brother, Bernard Mikofsky
of Bethlehem, Pa.; and
three grandchildren.

DR. SANFORD BENNETT

Dr. Bennett also was affil-
iated with the American
Geriatric Society-Planned
Parenthood-League.
Dr. Bennett also was a
member of the Israel
Numismatic Society.
He leaves his wife, Mar-
garet; two sons, Mark of
Encino, Calif., and David of
Littleton, Colo; a daughter,
Mrs. Murray (Sharri)
Snyder of Golden, Colo.; and
three grandchildren.

Gertrude Maskin

Gertrude E. Maskin, an
active volunteer and
member of Jewish organiza-
tions, died Aug. 30 at age
72.
A resident of Southfield,
Mrs. Maskin was a volun-
teer at the pediatric
playroom at Mt. Carmel
Mercy Hospital for the past
nine years and a former
volunteer for the Children's
Leukemia Foundation.
She held membership in
Bnai Brith Women.
She leaves a daughter,
Mrs. Edwin (Paula) Bladen
of East Lansing; two sisters,
Mrs. Edward (Evelyn)
Kohleriter and Mrs. Lillian
Brilliant; and three
grandchildren.
