in the northern kibutzim of
Israel where manpower is
needed since many men
were mobilized for Opera-
tion Peace for Galilee.
The Samuel Linden and
Milton Steinhardt Schol-
arship Funds of the Jewish
Community Center pro-
vided transportation assis-
tance for the young adults.
During their six-week
stay, the group will take a
four-day tour of Israel,
attend a three-day semi-
nar and help pick apples at
kibutzim such as Adamit,
Afik, Ein Zivan, El Rom,
Maayan Baruch, Malkia,
Manara, Merom Golan,
Misgav Am, Yiftach or
Yiron

Tennis Programs
at Jewish Center

The main Jewish Center
will begin its fall tennis
schedule Sept. 14. Court
time will be available 6-10
p.m. Tuesdays, 10 a.m.-10
p.m. Wednesdays, 6-10 p.m.
Thursdays and 1-5 p.m.
Saturdays. There is a fee for
court time.
Beginning tennis will be
held 6 p.m. Tuesdays for
three weeks. Intermediate
tennis clinics are held at 6
p.m. every other Wednes-
day.
Exercise and tennis, in-
cluding 45 minutes of body
toning exercises and an
hour of open tennis, will be
held 7:15 p.m. Tuesdays and
Thursdays. Tenn-Aerobics
will be held 7:30 p.m. Wed-
nesdays, and includes 45
minutes of aerobic exercise
followed by 45 minutes of
open tennis.
There is a fee for the

mittee announces new
physical education classes

will be offered at the
branch.
Robert Cohen and Robert
Dovitz, chairmen of the
physical education commit-
tee, said that more classes
than ever are being offered,
and they will be geared to
all age groups, families and
singles.
• New classes include
parent-child sports and in-
structional soccer on Sun-
day afternoons, Sunday
stretch for families, and
aerobic exercise on Sunday
mornings. Dance classes in-
clude beginning tap and
modern dance.
Evening classes offered
will include Kalosomatics,
co-ed single volleyball, open
basketball and dance
aerobics. A new class of-
fered Friday morning is
women's self-defense.

Class schedules are'
available at the Morris
Branch. Registration will
be held at the Branch
Bash 4 p.m. Sept. 12. The
celebration will include
games and prizes for
children, refreshments
and entertainment. The
community is invited.

Registration at the
Branch Bash will offer a
promotional 10 percent dis-

Youth Theater
Program Begun

The Temple Beth El High
School invites Jewish stu-
dents in grades 10-12 to par-
ticipate in a Jewish Youth
Theater.
Created with the aid of a
grant from the Jewish Wel-
fare Federation, the pro-
gram will develop a travel-
ing repertoire of Jewish
plays and audio scripts to be
presented to temples, reli-
gious schools and commu-
nity organizations.
Beginning Sept. 12, the
students will meet on Sun-
day mornings and Wednes-
day evenings under the di-
rection of temple faculty
and a professional drama
instructor. Transportation
will be provided to and from
performances.

The efforts of volunteers
in the 1982 Allied Jewish
Campaign will be recog-
nized at the Detroit Service
Group's 33rd annual Stag
Day on Wednesday at Tarn -
0- Shanter Country Club.

The event will provide a
day of golf, tennis and rela-
xation for workers in the re-
cently completed Cam-
paign. The awards dinner
will feature a special pre-
sentation to the 1982 gen-
eral chairmen and co-
chairmen, and other Cam-
paign leaders.
Speakers will include
Jewish Welfare Federation
President Avern Cohn and
Detroit Service Group
President Richard Sloan. A
brief video tape will de-
scribe current conditions in
Israel and Lebanon.
