The delega- tion, the first such group to visit Israel, included Thomas Mouhanna, dean of the faculty of philosophy at the University of Beirut, and Robert Ghanem, president of the Lebaneie- Supreme Court. Some members of the delegation told Shamir that they supported a peace agreement between Israel and Lebanon. Shamir told the group that it is now possible to ad- vance along the road to peace now that the PLO has been destroyed militarily and politically.
