The show marks the first ap- pearance in this area for Shubow's works which have been widely shown in Florida where he has re- sided for the past 15 years. Shubow is artist-in- residence and a member of the faculty of the South Florida Art Institute at Hol- lywood, Fla. He has been a commercial art director and is noted as a teacher and lec- turer. Shubow's educational background includes study at the local Center for Crea- tive Studies as well as the Art Institute of Chicago, Metropolitan Museum of Art of Florida, The Miami Art League and the Academie Grande Chaumiere of Paris, among others. He has also worked with world renown artists Alice Neel and Bruno Luc- chesi. , His oils hang in many private collections in- cluding a number in this area. A reception for the artist is planned from 4 to 8 p.m. Sept. 11. Gallery hours are from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily and 11 to 4 p.m. Saturday. Top entertainers will be featured throughout the telethon, which raises money for research into muscular dystophy and similar catastrophic dis- eases. In Detroit, MDA clinics benefiting from the telethon are located in Children's Hospital and Martin Place Hospital. The Mariomax salon will have a hair cut-a-thon to benefit the MDA 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday. The salon will be joined by the restaurants at Tally Hall, where entertainment and activi- ties for all ages will be of- fered. Fall Real Estate Classes Offered The University of Michi- gan is offering three courses in real estate principles and practices this fall at Bir- mingham Groves High School. An introductory course will be held Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:30 to 10 p.m. beginning Sept. 13.
