Shultz Greets
Jewish Leaders

NEW YORK (JTA) — A
7 delegation of Jewish leaders
who met with Secretary of
State George Shultz and
members of his staff for
() more than two hours in
Washington last week
' urged the United States to
influence Jordan to join the
Middle East peace process
and to help "find Palesti-
nians who represent their
I_ people" to negotiate with Is-
(-1 rael.
Julius Berman, chairman
I of the Conference of
i
President of Major Ameri-
can Jewish Organizations,
who headed the 13-member
delegation, said that Shultz
,=D was most interested in hear-
ing the views of the Jewish
---,) leaders.
"We made it clear to him
a that the PLO had been de-
stroyed not only militarily
r but politically as well," Be-
( rman said. "We stressed
, that it is important that the
PLO will not be dealt with
‘) in any way.
The meeting with Shultz
(J was part of the Secretary of
State's on-going general
consultation with members
of Congress, community
leaders and private sectors
in the effort to develop a fu-
ture U.S. Mideast po
icy in the aftermath of the
i war in Lebanon.

Mein Kampf-
,Reprint Appears
lli Belgium

BRUSSELS (JTA) —
Belgian authorities were
reported last week to be
seeking to learn the identity
of the publisher of a reprint
of Hitler's "Mein Kampf' to
determine whether the re-
publication is a violation of
Belgian law.
Dries van Agt, the Dutch
Foreign Minister, said that
he had asked the Dutch
Embassy in Brussels to
check reports the Hitler
opus had been reprinted in
Belgium and was on sale in
supermarkets in Flanders
in Belgium. A reprint was
confiscated in The Nether-
lands in 1974 on grounds
that material advocating
racism and xenophobia was
illegal.
Anti - Semitic and racist
materials are violations of
Belgian law but Belgian
Justice Ministry sources
said the publisher could
argue that "Mein Kampf'
was of great historical
value, and that he had is-
sued the reprint for that
reason.

Soviets Honor
Janusz Korczak

HAIFA (JNI) — The
Soviet Academy of Science
has named a recently-
' discovered asteroid for
Janusz Korczak, the
Jewish-Polish educator who
voluntarily went to his
death in Treblinka with his
orphaned charges 40 years
(-L ago.
As Korczak left no heirs,
‘-3 the official certificate was
sent to the Korczak School
on Baku, Azerbaijan, whose
director informed the Is-
, raeli Korczak Society.
