Ecumenical Leader Deplores U.S. Media's Failure
to Note Lebanese Endorsement of Israel's Actions

Dr. James R. Lyons, di-
rector of the Ecumenical In-
stitute for Jewish-Christian
Studies, upon his return
from a study tour of Israel
and the liberated areas in
Lebanon, together with 50
other Christian religious
leaders, expressed shock at
the manner in which em-
phasis in news reports is
given to what is purported
to be Israeli cruelty to
women and children in the
Lebanese war while ignor-
ing the repudiations.
"I am greatly distressed
that the media should have
failed to give a platform to
the Lebanese Americans
who are welcoming libera-
tion of their country by Is-
rael," Dr. Lyons said.

Dr. Lyons will expose the
villifications of Israel in a
presentation on the
Lebanese situation at an
ecumenical session at the
Southfield headquarters of
his institute on Sept. 15. All
factions in Christendom are
expected to participate in
that exploratory session.

Lyons, who is pastor of the

Church in West Bloomfield.
Its stated purposes are to
