Shenkman will be the guest
of honor at the club's annual
Israel Bond Tribute Dinner
Sept. 25 at the club, it was
announced by Dave Mus-
kovitz, club president.
Shenkman will be the re-
cipient of the state of Is-
rael's Jerusalem, City of
Peace Award, "in recogni-
tion of his outstanding dedi-
cation to and support of Is-
rael and the Jewish people."
Dinner co-chairmen are
D. Dan Kahn and Sam Rich.
A tribute committee is now
in formation.
Shenkman, a member
of Tam-O-Shanter for 32

an Israel Bond Canal
Founder.
He is a past president of
the former Beth Aaron
Synagogue and served for
15 years on its board of di-
rectors.
Shenkman served for 20
years as board member,
officer and president of the
United Hebrew Schools.
He served on the building
,,committee during construc-
tion of two new school build-
ings -and during his
presidency, the 12 Mile
Road Campus was con-
ceived and completed.
Shenkman also served as
transportation chairman
for Hillel Day School.
He has been affiliated
with Bnai Brith and the
4 Anti-Defamation League
since 1936. He is a
member of the board of
overseers of the Jewish
Theological Seminary of
America and has served
in that capacity for the
past 10 years. He also is a
life member of the Zionist
Organization of America.
Shenkman received the
"Acts of Kindness" Award
from the Synagogue Coun-
cil of America in 1981 and is
a recipient of the Jewish
Welfare Federation of De-
troit's Community Service
Award.
Mr. and Mrs. Shenkman
are the contributors of the
Jack and Miriam
Shenkman Intensive Care
Room in the Cardiac Wing,
Grace Hospital, Detroit,
and the Jack and Miriam
Shenkman Library and
Audio Visual Room, Shaare
Zedek Hospital, Jerusalem.
They . endowed the
synagogue in the Lubavitch
Chabad House Student
Center Building in Ann Ar-
bor, the Jack and Miriam
Shenkman Family Forest of
10,000 trees in the Detroit
Section of the American
Bicentennial National Park
near Jerusalem, and the
Jack and Miriam
Shenkman School Building
and campus for the Met-
ropolitan Detroit Lubavitch
in Farmington Hills.
They also endowed an
academic chair in "Post
Biblical Foundations of
Western Civilization" in
the Rabbinical School of
the Jewish Theological
Seminary of America.
Shenkman is a Master
Mason in Perfection Lodge
of the Masons and a 32nd
Degree Shriner.
