The Vurker dynasty, which originated near War- saw, was one of the major Hasidic dynasties before World War II. The great-grandfather of the present Rebbe came to Eretz Yisrael in 1886 with some 300 followers. He was expelled by the Turks some months later and returned in 1906, dying the following year. The present rabbi is deal- ing with the Jewish Agency and the Israel Land Authority about starting the Vurker community here.
