Federation Career Women's
Unit Plans Brunch, Meeting

The 1983 Career Women
subscription series of the
Jewish Welfare Federation
Women's Division will get
underway with a meeting
noon Sept. 12 at the main
United Hebrew Schools
building. The meeting will
be preceded by brunch at 11
a.m.
The Sept. 12 kickoff will
feature a presentation on
the current Middle East

Betty Friedan will address
the paid-up membership
luncheon of the Greater De-
troit Section, National
Council of Jewish Women,
noon Sept. 14 at Adat
Shalom Synagogue.
Founder and first
president of the National
Organization for Women,
Ms. Friedan served as the
original convener of the Na-
tional Women's Political
Caucus. She is the author of
"The Feminine Mystique"
and "The Second Stage."

visiting professor of sociol-
ogy at Temple University,
Yale, the New School for So-
cial Research and Queens
College. As senior research
associate at the Center for
Social Science at Columbia
