Paul Findley (R- Ill.) has lost his objectivity on Middle East issues, ac- cording to Dick Durbin, Findley's opponent in the November election. Durbin cited Findley's re- cent denunciations of Israel and longtime support of the PLO as evidence of the Con- gressman's biased views. In a telegram to President Reagan earlier this month, Findley asked for a halt in military aid to Israel, charg- ing that Israel had misused American weapons during the invasion of Lebanon. "Rep. Findley, despite the fact that he is the ranking Republican on the House 29 Years of Service to JNF Remembered a on Retirement of Director Percy Kaplan Middle East Subcommittee, clearly cannot appreciate the dangers that Israel faces from its hostile neighbors," Durbin said.
