Congregation B'nai Zion was founded in 1922 and has served the Jewish community without interruption
ever since. It has maintained its identity, never having merged with any other synagogue.
The original shul was built at the corner of Humphrey and Holmur in Detroit, and everyone knew it as "the
Humphrey Shul." It served that area of the city until 1963.
It has occupied its present quarters located at Nine Mile Road and Avon in Oak Park since 1961. Rabbi
Solomon H. Gruskin has been the spiritual leader for the past 36 years.
