$350,000 from Kresge Fund to Aid New Elderly Complex

Marvin H. Fleischman,
president of the Jewish
Home for Aged, announced
that the home has received
a $350,000 challenge grant
from the Kresge Founda-
tion toward construction of
the Fleischman ResidefiCe
(for Jewish Elderly) and
Blumberg Plaza. The
facilities will be built on the
Jewish community's
Maple-Drake site in West
Bloomfield.
Fleischman said the
grant was authorized on a
challenge basis, requiring
the home to raise remaining
funds for completion of the
project.

The Kresge Foundation
reported that of 1,449 pro-
posals received in 1982, a
total of 132 charitable
organizations , across the
country were awarded
grant commitments.

Plans Events

The Hillel House, 14400

present Israeli soldier Ced-
ric Geffen 8 p.m. Tuesday at
the Hillel House.
Geffen will speak on life
in the Israeli army and the
effect of the Lebanon inva-
sion. At 8 p.m. Monday, folk
guitarist Yaqov Makuan-
nen will appear on the
Hillel House front lawn.

1 medium-sized eggplant,
sliced 1/2" thick
1/2 cup cooking oil
1 /2 cup chopped onions
2 cans (15 oz. each) Chef Boy-
ar-dee Cheese Ravioli in to-
mato sauce
1 cup grated Mozzarella
cheese
Salt eggplant slices; place
waxed paper over them;
weight with large platter for 15
minutes. Dry slices with ab-
sorbent paper. Fry eggplant
slices in cooking oil; drain on
absorbent paper. Saute on-
ions lightly.
Arrange a layer of fried
eggplant on top of cheese
ravioli; then, sauteed onions,
sprinkle with half of grated
Mozzarella cheese. Continue
layering: Cheese Ravioli,
eggplant slices, then cheese.
Bake uncovered for 20 min-
