Rises in July
TEL AVIV (JTA) — The
cost of living index rose by
9.2 percent in July, bring-
ing the index increase dur-
ing the first seven months of
the year to 63.7 percent.
At the present rate, the
index is running at an in-
flationary rate of between
130 and 133 percent for
1982, compared to 100 per-
cent last year. Economists
said it was the highest July
increase since the estab-
lishment of the state of Is-
rael in 1948.

Bar-Ilan Affiliate Names Pearlman Scholarship Chairman
Allan J. Pearlman has as-
sumed the position of schol-
arship chairman for Bar-
Ilan University in Detroit,
Dr. Martin Hart and Nor-
man A. Pappas, general co-
chairmen, announced.
As scholarship chairman,
Pearlman will be responsi-
ble for seeing that an in-
crease in scholarship fund-
ing is made available to the
Bar - Ilan student popula-
tion.
Pearlman has been active
in Jewish affairs for a
number of years, the last
two with Bar-Ilan. In coop-
eration with Paul Zlotoff,
