The Best of Everything

ONE WOULD THINK
he or she were attending a
lavish Broadway musical
production . . . with danc-
ing, quick-paced activity,
memorable music by a
seven-piece band . . . and
stage with footlights.
Instead, it was the annual
Bricker-Tunis "Fur Hit
Parade" fashion show at
Bricker-Tunis Furs in Or-
chard Mall, Orchard Lake
Rd. and Maple Rd.
The models and furs were
big hits . . . deserving of
standing ovation . . . as the
fabulous '40s fashion show
of George Tunis fur designs
swirled about the stage in
classic style . . . while the
select audience gave out
with much oohs and aahs.
Everybody worked so
hard ... the models were
sensational ... George
Tunis' 87 creations
created much conversa-
tion.
All around the room at
Bricker-Tunis Furs were
movie posters from the '40s
and earlier . . . Champagne
flowed like water . . . hors
d'oeuvres came later . . . and
dancing . . . The Mark Phil-
lips Band was wonderful
(where has it been hiding?)
The entire show was di-
rected by Dorothy Serafini,
choreographer and fur coor-
dinator, assisted by Mar-
lene Spinner . . . Six girls
and a fellow strutted highly
and danced to a seven-
segment program that only
took 20 minutes to a half-
hour . . . but crammed in
much style and entertain-
ment talent . . . It was so
clever, too . . . The Old
Ballgame, U.S.O. Tour,
Tuxedo Junction, In The
Mood, Moonlight Serenade,
A-Train and Mardi-Gras.
During the Moonlight
Serenade sector of the show,
featuring silver fox, bubbles
filled the stage around the
gals and guy (in white tux)
. . . Balloons hung all over
the place . . . and the models
later threw confetti to the
thrilled audience.
Art Bricker and George
Tunis go back 16 years to
the days on Livernois
working together at Furs
By Bricker . . . also on
Greenfield in Lincoln
Center.
Now they are manufac-
turers as well as retailers
. . . attested by rows upon
rows of skins in a back room.
The Bricker-Tunis Fur
Hit Parade was a delight.
JIMMY LAUNCE
Productions will take over
the dinner-theater at Hyatt
Regency when he directs
"California Suite" at the
former db's nitery locale on
second floor of the HR .. .
Sept. 17 . . . It'll have'a food
or drink package ... with
dining before the show at
Guilio's or Kafay's . . .
Jimmy himself will star in
"Deathtrap," the January
1983 presentation.
GOING OVER BIG at
Bagel Basket Deli in West
Bloomfield Plaza on Or-
chard Lake Rd. and 15 Mile,
are the salads . . . large tor-
tilla shell filled with

24912 N. CHRYSLER DR. (1-75 at 10 Mile)

julienne of turkey, corned
beef, Swiss cheese, hard-
boiled egg, tomato, lettuce
. . . They look as good as
they taste . . . Seating at
Bagel Basket Deli is 120 in
two rooms . . . One room, all
booths, holds 90 . . . and an-
other, all tables, where par-
ties are also held, seats 30.
New owner eight months,
Wynn Schwartzman, son of
Dorothy Schwartzman, al-
ready has quite an exten-
sive restaurant background
. . . beginning by washing
dishes at Pizza Hut,
McDonalds, etc. . . . He has
a teaching degree from
Wayne State U. . . .
graduated Michigan State
U. in hotel and restaurant
management . . . was assis-
tant chef at Holiday Inn,
Lansing . . . food and bever-
age director at Ramada Inn,
Lansing . . . catering direc-
tor at Metro Airport .. .
then promoted to regional
food and beverage director.
Wynn is quite proficient
at making ice carvings .. .
and also does outside cater-
ing . . . His eventual goal is
to make the Bagel Basket
Deli into a broader type of
restaurant . . . expanding
the menu with more
creativity . . . Wynn runs a
clean restaurant . . . and
probably would love more
waitresses like Julie Keat-
ing, smiling, pleasant, per-
sonable and efficient.
The booths are all
brown leather-style .
with paneled ceiling
lighting ... One room
(with tables) is called the
Shalom Room . . . Over its
entrance is a brass Dove
of Peace on an olive
branch.
Back to that salad in a
tortilla shell . . . Wynn al-
ready serves over 100 a day.
His ice cream dessert
menu for theater goers is
