LONDON — More than
100 prominent residents of
Greece have signed a
statement protesting the
anti-Semitic climate of
their country, according to
an article by Marcel M. Yoel
in the London Jewish
Chronicle.
The statement comes on
the heels of an anti-Israel
campaign launched by
Greece's socialist govern-
ment. Greek Prime Minis-
ter Andreas Papandreou
began the crackdown on
June 6, following the Israeli
invasion of Lebanon.
The statement, signed by
writers, scientists,
academics and professional
people, said that manifesta-
tions against Israel and
Jews in general could not
"but bring to our minds the
dark ages of Nazi and other
persecutions."

Passover Aid

NEW YORK (JTA) —
The deepening impact of
federal budget cuts and - the
recession was illustrated in
a report by the Joint
Passover Association (JPA).
More than 40 Jews told the
interviewers, when they
applied for Passover aid this
year, that in the past they
had been contributors to
either .the JPA or to its par-
ent Federation of Jewish
Philanthropies.

PARIS (JTA) — French
police have stepped up their
search for the killers of a
senior Palestine LiberAion
Organization official but
conceded that - they still
have no clues and have
traced no suspects.
The official, Fadel el-
Dani, 38, the deputy direc-
tor of the PLO's office in
Paris, was murdered Friday
morning outside his home.
He died when the car he was
in was demolished by an
explosive device.
Ibrahim Suss, the PLO's
Paris director, said after the
killing, "I formally accuse
Israel." He said the tech-
nique used in killing el-
Dani "was similar" to that
used to kill the PLO deputy
director in Rome last
month. In that attack,
Kamal Hussein, 42, was kil-
led by a bomb planted under
his car seat.
Ambassador Meir
Rosenne of Israel em-
phatically denied any Is-
raeli participation in the

killing and said the mur-
der probably was part of
inter-Arab feuding.
Rosenne also denied any
Israeli approval for a state-
ment issued by the Jewish
Defense League implying
that it was responsible for
the murder.
