Talmudic scholar and pro-
fessor of biology at Yeshiva
University, cited the
myriad of problems arising
from advances in food
technology, the practical
application of Halakhic
principles, and changing
standards of business
ethics, as they effect the
kashrut standards of food
produced and sold under
well-known rabbinical
supervision.
Rabbi Tendler urged
kosher consumers to de-
mand more information
from the kashrut super-
viSory agencies, includ-
ing the opinions in dis-
puted points of Jewish
law that they rely upon in

granting their supervi-
sions.
Tendler declared that
many products which are
routinely accepted as
kosher because of their
supervision are not up to the
kashrut standards found
commonly in most Orthodox
homes.
