A non-Jewish resident of
West Bloomfield has pro-
tested to WJR Radio the air-
ing of a "Memorandum"
editorial on July 6.
Bennie R. Skelton wrote
to WJR:
"The short editorial
broadcast by your an-
nouncer portrayed a very
short-sighted and untrue
comparison of the current
plight of the Palestinians to
the U.S. treatment of Na-
tive American Indians, and
portrayed the Jews in Israel
as recent opportunists and
not legitimate in their resi-
dence in, and occupation of
the state ocArael.
"The editorial 'Memo-
randum' suggested
that the Jewish occupa-
tion of Palestine and the
creation of the state of Is-
rael were the results of
some sort of political ac-
tion on behalf of the En-
glish just prior to World
War I. No mention was
made of the biblical and
historical truths which
extend back thousands of
years in recorded his-
tory.
"Although I am not
Jewish, I was offended by
this ill-prepared and poorly
presented, error-filled
editorial. I suggest you
allow equal time for a
knowledgeable member of
the Jewish community to
properly present the bal-
ance of the facts which you_r
listeners were denied."
proposed that the com-
puter lists of the Ministry
of Communications be
utilized to track down the
telephone numbers of all
the families of sons who
sent them greetings over
the radio and that volun-
teers call the families and
convey the messages.
The volunteer force is
now making some 1,500
phone calls each day and the
new system, which is more
efficient than the old one,
also provides a personal
touch which was absent
from the radio broadcasts.

War Messages Delivered
Via- New Technion Method'
HAIFA — Israel soldiers
and their families have
been the chief beneficiaries
of a unique communications
_network designed by a
Technion student.
Mira Marcus, a graduate
student in the Faculty of In-
dustrial Engineering and
Management, proposed the
new system for soldier-
family communication
shortly after the Israel De-
fense Forces began "Opera-
tion Peace for Galilee" in
Lebanon.
Miss Marcus felt the trad-
itional method for such
communication, the read-
ing of messages from sol-
diers over Army Radio, left
much to be desired. Many
messages never reached the
airwaves and many families
couldn't stay glued to the
radio all day long.
