Israel Bonds Emergency Drive to Aid Israel Economy

(Continued from Page 1)
The cost of the war is
over $150 million a day. The
ultimate cost will be billions
of dollars. Therefore, Israel
Bond loan dollars are ur-
gently needed if Israel is to
continue critical infrastruc-
ture projects."
Hellman said Israel
wants nothing from Leba-
non but good, neighborly re-
lations. "As soon as Arafat
is out, Israel will get out,"
he said. He related that
Lebanon has been a country
divided since its civil war, a
country of no central gov-
ernment, many private ar-
mies and the world center
for terrorists and
smugglers.
"Every international
terrorist organization
has its headquarters in
Lebanon.
And the ter-
_

recent Israeli damage. This
difference is not noted in TV
news coverage, but the dif-
ference between old and
new destruction can be
seen."
He concluded by saying,
"Before I went to Lebanon, I
had some doubts regarding
the situation. Now I have no
doubts. I ask every clear-
thinking person not to
lieve the anti-Israel ads
our newspapers. They sin-1=-
ply are not true."

rorists even fight each
other," he said.
Hellman declared that al-
though Israel's primary
goal in Lebanon was not to
liberate the Christians
there, the Christians, and
many Muslims as well,
greeted Israeli soldiers as
liberators.
On a personal note,
Hellman told the assembled
guests that his Israeli son-
in-law, a doctor, was now
serving in Lebanon and had
related that the Israeli med-
ical personnel are treating
all the injured: Israelis,
Lebanese and PLO.
Holtzman hosted two
luncheons for top Israel
Bond leadership following
his return from a two-day
fact-finding mission to Is-
rael and Lebanon as part of
a 28-member delegation
from throughout the U.S.

The group toured southern
Lebanon and Beirut by
helicopter and truck.
"We saw thousands of
Lebanese returning by
carloads to their villages
from Beirut, where they
had fled in earlier years.
They were refugees in re-
verse. The roads were
traffic-j ammed with
these people, many dir-
riving Mercedes auto-
mobiles.
"We saw a thousand , Is-
raeli soldiers loading PLO
weapons onto trucks for a
return trip to Israel. The
weapon count was stagger-
ing; it will take five weeks
and 80 trucks. It is signific-
ant that most of the weapons
are being found in mosques,
schools and hospitals."
Holtzman said these
arms, enough for an army of
200,000, would have devas-
tated Israel if she were at-
tacked. He said he learned
that Israeli intelligence had
underestimated the arms
build-up by 90 percent, and
that Israel's drive beyond 25
miles into Lebanon was due
in the main to the discovery
of this arsenal.
In regards to health care
of the war-injured and re-
pairing the war damage, he
said he saw rescue missions

Qaddafi, admittedly no
friend of the Jewish people,

Qaddafi's kosher menu
was the closest Hungarian
authorities could come to
duplicating Moslem dietary
laws, which, like the laws of
kashrut, forbid the use of
pork. The shohet hired for
the trip was observed care-
fully by both the Libyan and
Hungarian secret services,
who feared he might at-
