U.S. Naval Arms
Sold to Israel

TEL AVIV (JTA) — Is-
rael Navy Commander Ad-
miral Zeev Almog disclosed
that Israel has purchased
U.S. Naval guns of the Vul-
can Phalanx type, as part of
its defensive strategy
against sophisticated sea to
sea missiles.
The guns are six-barrel
weapons guided by radar
which lock into low-flying
attack missiles.

LOS ANGELES — A
Polish survivor of German
concentration camps has
been accused of defrauding
other survivors of $75,000
in restitution payments.
Lucien Kozminski, a
lawyer, had told victims of
Nazi persecution that he
could obtain payments from
the West German govern-
ment for them. In return, he
asked for 15 percent of the
money they received.
An indictment returned
by a federal grand jury has
charged Kozminski with
taking a larger share of the
payments than originally
promised.

TV Network's
Satellite Request
Nixed by Zipori

JERUSALEM (JTA) —
Communications Minister
Mordecai Zipori confirmed
Tuesday that he had refused
foreign television networks
the use of Israel's satellite
broadcasting facility to
beam programs from Beirut
which he claimed were
fiercely hostile to Israel.
Zipori said he acted with
the Cabinet's approval after
the military censor in-
formed him that foreign TV
teams wanted the service of
Israel's satellite station be-
cause the Beirut station had
been destroyed by bomb-
ings.

Jews were farmers in
what is now Iraq and Iran
from 600 BCE to 1000 CE.
