Jewish Museum for Frankfurt BONN — Frankfort city officials plan to convert the Rothschild Palace into a Jewish museum housing photographs, paintings, literary works and cultural objects from the city's 800- year-old Jewish commu- nity. 3 original Frankfurt's Jewish museum was closed by the Nazis in 1938, but most of its exhibits were re- covered after the war. Many of them now reside in the National Museum in Jerusalem and the Jewish Museum in New York. SPRING GLEN, N.Y. (JTA) — The newly elected president of the Rabbinical Council of America (RCA) became one of the first Or- thodox leaders to call for a nuclear freeze "under guaranteed protection for our country's potential to maintain our effective de- terrent posture." Rabbi Gilbert Klaper- man, a special professor of law at Hofstra University, and spiritual leader of Cong. Beth Shalom in Lawrence, Long Island, also said that he doubted that the United States "can negotiate with the Russians to achieve total nuclear dis- armament with- foolproof safeguards and controls. "The USSR is too devious and untrustworthy to be entrusted with the security of our country. But if we cannot reach nuclear dis- armament we must seek a nuclear freeze under guaranteed protections for our country's potential to maintain our effective de- terrent posture." Klaperman did not attend the 46th national conven- tion at the Homowack Hotel because of the death June 18 of his wife, Mrs. Libby Klaperman. His coments were read at the convention in a message he had pre- s pared before the gathering. God is not mentioned in the Megillat Esther.
