Faxon has served as Senator for the Seventh District in Wayne County since 1970. Currently president pro tempore of the Senate, he serves as chairman of the Senate's Education Com- mittee, subcommittee on re- tirement and the Joint Legislative Committee on the Arts; vice chairman of the Commerce Committee; and a member of the Labor and Retirement Committee. Faxon earned BS and MS degrees in education at Wayne State University and an MA in history from the University of Michigan.
