Israel Bonds' Golda Meir Club spent a "Day at the
Capital" in early June, honoring Mrs. William Milli-
ken, wife of Michigan's governor, and purchasing
$194,000 in Israel Bonds. Shown in the top photo-
graph, being sent off by D. Dan Kahn, chairman of the
Israel Bonds executive board, are from left: Anne
Parzen, Miriam Shenkman, Leah Snider, Phyllis
Newman, Doreen Hermelin, Miriam Leitman, Shirley

Faxon Seeks 15th Dist. Seat

has announced his candi-
dacy for Democratic nomi-
nation for the 15th District
State Senate seat in Oak-
land County previously
held by Doug Ross. Faxon
has served as Senator for
the Seventh District in
Wayne County since 1970.
Currently president pro
tempore of the Senate, he
serves as chairman of the
Senate's Education Com-
mittee, subcommittee on re-
tirement and the Joint
Legislative Committee on
the Arts; vice chairman of
the Commerce Committee;
and a member of the Labor
and Retirement Committee.
Faxon earned BS and MS
degrees in education at
Wayne State University
and an MA in history from
the University of Michigan.
He taught in the Detroit
Public Schools for eight
years and was a delegate to
the Michigan Constitu-
