been held prisoner near
Sidon and was discovered
lying on the gro.und by the
Israeli troops after an ex-
change with terrorists hid-
ing in fruit groves.
When his mother was in-
formed by phone of his safe
arrival in a hospital she re-
fused to believe the news
until provided with exact
information about his
name, address, birthday
and family members.
Talbi, meanwhile, was
evacuated by helicopter
to a hospital in Israel.
Meanwhile, there were
sobs of relief and shouts of
joy in many AmeriCan and
Canadian homes when "All
is well" messages were re-
layed by JWB from their Is-
raeli soldier sons and
fathers.
JWB, the central service
agency for the Jewish com-
munity center movement of
North America, telephoned
-the "good news" as part of a
joint project of JWB and the
Association of Americans
and Canadians in Israel.
Asher Tarmon, director of
the JWB Israel office in
Jerusalem, cabled the
names of olim called up in
the current Lebanon con-
flicts.
He also supplied the
names, relationship and
telephone number of family
members in the U.S. and
Canada. Frank F. Wundohl,
JWB director of communi-
cations, made the calls.
The family of Paratroop
Cpl. Uri Belinsky did not
receive such happy news,
however. Cpl. Belinsky, 20,
a third-generation Sabra
and a graduate of the Kfar
Silver graduating class of
1980, was the first soldier
killed in the north. He was
buried at Ashkelon Military
Cemetery with full military
honors.

Armenians
Will Appear

TEL AVIV — Prof. Israel
Charny of Tel Aviv Univer-
sity announced this week
that his International Con-
ference on the Holocaust
and Genocide will hear five
Armenians next week de- -
spite threats of reprisals by
Turkey against Israelis and
Turkish Jews.
Turkish spokesmen and
an Israeli envoy in Istanbul
last week denied Charny's
charges that Turkey had
made threats over the
Armenians' appearance at
the conference.

Comparing Costs

NEW YORK (ZINS) — A
United Nations survey
shows that $100 in goods
and services in New York
would cost $130 in Tel Aviv.
The same items in
Tripoli, Libya would cost
$184, and $162 in Geneva,
Switzerland. The lowest
figures were for Rio de
Janeiro, $81; Bratislava,
Czechoslovakia, $79; and
Warsaw $69.

The term "Tenakh" is
formed from the initials of
the three parts of the Bible:
Torah, Nebiim and
Ketubim.
