"Giza Street," the new addition to Jerusalem's to- pography, came about through the efforts of Miami-based writer Joan Campion. Miss Campion has written a biography, a "non-fiction novel" and a short play about Mrs. Fleis- chmann. For two years, Mrs. Fleis- chmann and her colleagues managed to protect 20,000 Czechoslovakian Jews from deportation to Nazi death camps. They also helped to re- scue Jews from Poland and at one point they negotiated for the lives of FOR THE CONVENIENCE OF CUR CUSTOMERS all the Jews left in Europe. Gisi Fleischmann was deported to Auschwitz and died there on Oct. 18, 1944. Miss Campion's mentor throughout the project has been Nora Levin, author of the standard historical work "The Holocaust." In print so far is a short play about Mrs. Fleis- chmann, "Mission To Ful- fill," designed for commu- nity groups. Plans are afoot to publish the novel, "In the. Lion's Mouth," later this summer. Miss Campion indicated that the biog- raphy will come last. Information on Joan Campion's work may be ob- tained from Writer's Serv- ice, P.O. SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (JTA) — Memorial services for the 16 Puerto Rican tourists killed in the "kamikaze" terrorist attack at Lod Airport in Israel 10 years ago were held at the Maramar Jewish Center. A number of the survivors attended, as did an Israel Air Force doctor, Moishe Gross, who treated those wounded in the attack on May 30, 1972. The victims were Puerto Rican Christians on a pil- grimage to holy places in Is- rael. They had just disem- barked from their plane when terrorists, later iden- tified as members of Japan's extreme left Red Army sprayed the passenger ter- minal with machinegun fire. All but one of the ter- rorists were killed by Is- rael security forces. A sole survivor, Kozu Okamoto, is serving a life sentence in an Israeli prison. Rabbi Claudi Kaiser of the Jewish Community Center conducted the serv- ice. Israel's Ambassador to the U.S., Moshe Arens, sent a message from Washington recalling that the pilgrims who survived the tragedy completed their tour of Is- Kaplans Cited The American Contract Bridge League Charity Foundation has presented a check for $250 to the Na- tional Kidney Foundation of Michigan in the names of Mr. and Mrs. Saul Kaplan of West Bloomfield. The presentation honors the Kaplans for their "high achievement in ACBL- Wide Charity Game." Resuming Ties •Easy Perking • Tower 14 Building Corner of Northwestern Hwy. and J.L.
