23 through July 25 at the
Birmingham Theater .. .
Henderson Forsythe will
re-create his original
Broadway role as the sheriff
who is forced to close down
the infamous chicken
ranch.
"Best Little Whorehouse
In Texas," which won two
Tony awards and three
Drama Desk awards, re-
cently concluded a suc-
cessful four-year Broadway
engagement, but the move
was premature . . . The pub-
lic response was so great, it
immediately re-opened and
the popular bordello is back
in buinsiness.

door poolside terrace at
Hotel Pontchartrain opened
last Wednesday . . . with
Detroit-born jazz great
Donald Byrd a hit of last
year's Montreux Jazz Festi-
val . . . plus Detroit's popu-
lar Larry Nozero jazz quar-
tet.
Count Basie and his or-
chestra highlight the sec-
ond week, on Wednesday,
with the Trinidad Tripoli
Steel Band and the Notre
Dame Jazz Band on Mon-
day.
Such big name jazz per-
formers typically draw
1,500 to 1,800 people, some
300 of whom have reserved
seating, with the remainder
standing in what virtually
becomes a huge outdoor
cocktail party.

23RD BIRTHDAY was
recently celebrated by Lit-
tle Caesar Enterprises, Inc.,
the nearly 300-unit pizza
chain . . . For the celebra-
tion, Little Caesars teamed
up with another Detroit-
based company, the Fred
Sanders Co. . . . Each cus-
tomer in the Detroit Met-
ropolitan area purchasing
Pizza! Pizza! received an
individual-sized Sanders
