anti-Semitism in an essay
he wrote.
The 2,200-word essay,
which was seized among his
papers, stated: "I was star-
tled by the discovery that it
was the Jews that
`legitimized' and promoted

Cheese Ravioli in Tomato Sauce
1/2 cup chopped carrots
dash garlic salt
2 tablespoons butter or margarine 1 tablespoon chopped fresh
1/2 package (10 oz.) frozen whole
parsley
green beans, cooked and drained 1 cup water
•
1. Saute onions and carrots in butter in medium-sized
saucepan.
2. Add remaining ingredients; cover and simmer for
15 minutes. Serves 4.

$2.93 billion was spent by
Israel on defense last year,
according to the Central
Bureau of Statistics.
The military spending
figure amounts to an 11 per-
cent increase over the 1980
mark and represents nearly
30 percent of Israel's gross
national product. In addi-
tion, the bureau reported,
unspecified sums were
spent on loans for military
and defense-related proj-
ects.

vinity School.
Rabbi Borowitz is on the

Opera star Roberta Peters' illness has
caused the postponement of her Shaarey
Zedek concert to July 1, announces Cantor
Chaim Najman. "More than 4,000 tickets
were distributed for the June 3 concert,
which was postponed at the last moment
Wednesday because of Miss Peters' ill-
ness," Najman said.

cated at the Hebrew Uni-
versity in Jerusalem and
the University of London.
He was the first Israeli
citizen to be admitted to
Princeton University's
Woodrow Wilson School
of Public and Interna-
tional Affairs.
Born in Germany in 1921,
Dr. Plotkin and his family
emigrated to Palestine in
1935. In 1937 he became a
member of Hagana, and was
active in its operations until
Israel declared its indepen-
dence in 1948. He served as
an officer in the Intelligence
Corps of the Israel Defense
Forces.
