First-Ever Garage Sale at Center
The Jewish Community
Center will have its first-
ever warehouse garage sale
9 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 13 at
the Maple-Drake building.
Among the items to be
sold are: clothing, house-
wares, appliances, sporting
goods, furniture and more.
Sheldon Goldman, chair-
man of the Center's revenue
producing committee, an-
nounces that Howard Tap-
per is in charge of the proj-
ect.
Proceeds from the sale
will benefit programs and
services offered by the Cen-
ter, including camp and
membership scholarships
for children. Senior citizens
programming also will
benefit from the sale.
Contributions of mer-
chandise are still being
accepted at the Center's
main building in West
Bloomfield. Donations
are tax deductible,.,

The public is invited.
Admission is free.
Sports Specialty
Camp Still Open
A few openings still re-
main for the Jewish. Com-
munity Center's tennis and
sports specialty camp.
The co-ed program em-
phasizes tennis skills and
fundamentals of a variety of

sports. The camp is offered
during the sessions of the
Center's day camp schedule,
June 28-July 23 and July
26-Aug. 20.
Located on the grounds of
the main Center complex,
the specialty camp is open to
youth in grades five-10.

BARBARA DISNER
Barbara R. Disner has
announced her candidacy
for re-election to the Oak
Park Board of Education.
She is running for the four-
year seat in the June 14
election.
Mrs. Disner is currently
president of the school
board. Her two children
attend Oak Park Schools.
Mrs. Disner is a
graduate of Oak Park
High School and Wayne
State University. She is a
member of the National
Honor Society for
Women in Education and
a former elementary
school teacher.
Mrs. Disner was first
elected to the board of edu-
cation in 1978. She is affil-
iated with Cong. Bnai
David, Pioneer Women,
ORT, and Roosevelt Middle
School and Oak Park High
School PTSA.
