NEW YORK —The latest
Gallup poll on American
attitudes toward Jews and
the state of Israel reveals
that these attitudes have
not varied significantly in
the past 41/2 years.
This conclusion was
based on a comparison of the
new poll, which was con-
ducted from last March 12
to March 22, with four simi-
lar surveys conducted by
the Gallup organization at
various times in the 41/2-
year period. All five polls
were done on behalf of the
American Jewish Commit-
tee.
The March 1982 poll, in-
volving interviews with a
representative sample of
1,580 adults over the age of
18, dealt with three specific
subjects: the perception of
Jews as wielders of influ-
ence or power in the United
States; the perception of
their loyalty to the United
States in relation to their
feelings toward Israel; and
the degree of sympathy felt
by the survey respondents
toward Israel and the Arab
nations in the hypothetical
event that war broke out be-
tween them.
The poll revealed that
Americans do not see Jews
as excessively powerful in
comparison to other special
interest groups.
On the matter of loyalty,
a majority of Americans
continue to believe Jews to
be more loyal to the United
States than to Israel.

cert marking the 100th an-
niversary of the birth of
composer Igor Stravinsky
earlier this month.
The concert featured vio-
linist Isaac Stern and con-
ductor Leonard Bernstein
and was attended by Israeli
President Yitzhak Navon.
