The former King of the Cha Cha now has Benji's North restaurant on Or- chard Lake Rd. between Cass Lake Rd. and Middlebelt (one mile north of Telegraph) in Sylvan Lake. It was once a Nugget which Benji has turned around with his expertise as a chef. How did he go from dancing to cooking? . . . Most folks don't know that Benji used to dabble in kitchens of restau- rateur friends ... He then went on to work in several restaurants as a short order cook . . attended Culinary Insti- tute of America hi New Haven, Conn. and also when it moved to Hyde Park, N.Y. "Tintypes" brings singing, dancing, pantomime and comedy .. with a display m yesteryears of songs fro fast-paced in solo, duo and choral rendition. "Tintypes" at the Bir- mingham Theater, directed by Jerry Zaks, is different . . . gets better as it goes along . . . and before the entertaining finale, winds up with a fun-filled series of sequences from the merry days of vaudeville.
