The contest is open to songwriters of original, un- published material in any one of five languages: English, French, Hebrew, Yiddish or Ladino. He was then invited by the provisional government of Israel to join the state's newly formed civil service and held various senior level posts in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem from 1948 to 1952. These included serv- ice as parliamentary secre- tary for the late Golda Meir (then Ministry of Labor) and parliamentary assis- tant to the late Jack Geri, minister of trade and indus- try. From 1952 through 1977, he served with the Hadas- sah Medical Organization, first as personnel director and then as director of in- formation services. He is a frequent an- nouncer heard on "The Voice of Israel," broadcast from Jerusalem. The public is invited to the Chug Aliya meeting, and reservations are re- quired.
