Abu-Hatzeira
Quits Cabinet

JERUSALEM (JTA) —
Aharon Abu-Hatzeira's res-
ignation as Minister of
Labor, Welfare and Absorp-
tion, which he submitted in
writing last Friday to Pre-
mier Menahem Begin, for-
mally took effect Sunday.
Begin reported Abu-
Hatzeira's decision to the
Cabinet and the ministers
approved the appointment
of Aharon Uzan, the
number two man in the
three-member Tami Knes-
set faction which Abu-
Hatzeira heads. The ap-
pointment must still have
the approval of the Knesset.
Uzan was present at the
Cabinet meeting Sunday
and said he hoped his serv-
ice as minister would be
brief. He meant that hope-
fully Abu-Hatzeira would
be acquitted on appeal of the
larceny, fraud and breach of
trust convictions that
prompted his resignation as
minister.
He will, however, hold on
to his Knesset seat pending
a ruling by the Supreme
Court. Abu-Hatzeira re-
ceived a suspended sentence
of 20 months on the three
counts and fined 3,500
shekels- (about $170) on
April 23.

The seminar will focus on
Israel's newest security in-
strument, the Variable
Rate Issue (VRI), available
for purchase by trustees for
employee benefit funds and
union funds.
Dr. Hershel Sandberg is
Medical Physician's Di-
vision chairman.

ROME (JTA) — Antonio
Savasta, on trial for the
murder of former Premier
Aldo Moro and other crimi-
nal acts, has given Italian
authorities details of Pales-
tine Liberation Organiza-
tion collaboration with the
Red Brigade in Italy, in-
chiding extensive weapons
supplies.
According to Savasta,
who confessed that he gave
the orders to kill Moro, the
PLO delivers arms to the
Red Brigade for their own
use and to be stored for PLO
terrorist acts on Italian soil.
He said a weapons ship-
ment handed over in Cyprus
included ground-to-air mis-
siles, machine guns and
bombs of various types. An-
other shipment smuggled
into Italy from France con-
tained Kalachnikov auto-
matic rifles, hand grenades
and guns.
Savasta claimed the PLO
has two arms caches in
Italy, one in Mondello and
the other in Sardegna. Both
were subsequently dis-
covered by police.
