'Golda' Has Strong, Weak Points
"Golda" as a television
dramatization now is his-
tory, subject to public
scrutiny.
There are and will be var-
ying opinions about the
Golda Meir story.
A Detroit News writer
was critical, the New York
Times reviewer was super-
enthusiastic. •
The fact is that it is
both: weak in many
spots, strong in others.
Its weakness lies in fail-
ure truly to analyze the per-
sonality, other than as a
political genius. But her
politics were diffused with
kitchen diplomacy, a U.S.
Senator becoming enthused
by her honey cake, request-
ing the recipe; her attitude
toward the Arabs proving
highly commendable.
The failure to introduce
her. role as Israel ambas-
sador to Russia is a
shortcoming.
Positive in the story is her
reply to a student in the
Milwaukee school to a ques-
tion about peace, when she
stated, "There will be peace
when Arabs love their chil-
dren more than they hate
Jews."
Two additional televi-
sion programs of Jewish
interest will be aired next
week.
ABC-TV will have a
mini-series 8 p.m. Sunday
and 9 p.m. Monday (Ch. 7)
based on Hitler aide Albert
