First of Its Kind Junior High Israel, NY Philharmonics
Day School Opens in Miami to Combine for Concert

MIAMI (JTA) — The first
Jewish day junior high
school in the United States,
two years in the planning, is
scheduled to open in South

Samuel Lasko, director_of
the Beth Tfiloh Community
Day School in Baltimore,
has been named principal of
the new school. Lasko said
that, to provide quality
Judaic education, the school

will operate on different
levels of instruction. Stu-
dents will major in such
areas as Talmud, Old Tes-
tament and Hebrew litera-
ture. He said all students
will be expected to study
Hebrew.
