Mosque Bombed
- in France
PARIS (JTA) — A brand
- new mosque not yet inaugu-
rated was blown up in the
small French - city of
Romans-Sur-Isere in the
Alps.
The mosque was the first
to be built outside the main
urban areas - and was to
serve the tens of thousands
of migrant workers in the
area. There, were no casual-
ties but close to $100,000 of
damage.
Police say a powerful
tomb exploded close to the
basement.
- It is generally believed
that local inhabitants
had op posed, the
atruction of the mos-
que had blown it up to
prevent the city from be-
- coming "an Arab center."
There are over three mil-
-lion Moslems, mainly of
North African origin, in
- France.
