All AZA and BBG chap-
ters will participate in the
Israel Independence Day
Parade Sunday at the
Southfield Civic Center.
Members participating in
the parade should meet at
the Bendix Corp. building
at 11:30 a.m. BBYO will
enter a float in the parade,
and chapter members are
encouraged to march with a
chapter banner and wear
chapter t-shirts.
The AZA Basketball
League will not meet Sun-
day. Rose AZA continues to
lead Division I with a 8-0
record while Hart AZA
leads Division II with a 6-1
record. The playoff games
for the league will take
place May 9 at Oakland
Community College, Or-
chard Ridge campus at
12:30 p.m. The cham-
pionship game will follow at
1:30 p.m. All members of
AZA and BBG are invited.
There is no admission
charge.
The next meeting of the
Great Lakes AZA Council
will take place 7 p.m. Mon-
day in the Dubin Meeting
Room of the Bnai Brith
Building. The BBG Council
will meet 7 p.m. Thursday
in the same facility. Each
meeting will feature ap-
proval of the Council
recommendations for the
next programming year,
final details on the forth-
coming Elections Training
Conclave, and declarations
and nominations for council
positions for 1982-1983.

Applications for the
Joan Kalef Memorial
Leadership Award will
be distributed at the May
AZA and BBG Council
meetings. The award was
established in memory of
Joan Kalef, past
president of the Bnai
Brith Women's Council of
Metropolitan Detroit.
The award will allow
BBYO members to attend
BBYO Machon June
20-24 at the Bnai Brith
Perlman Camp in Star-
light, Pa. Interested
BBYOers may also obtain
an application by con-
tacting the BBYO office.
Deadline for applications
is May 27.
Samson AZA will spon-
sor a road rally 8 p.m. May
8, beginning at Thompson
Middle School, Southfield.
Prizes will be awarded to
the winning entrants.

An orientation meeting
for all AZA and BBG mem-
bers attending this year's
Israel Summer Institute
will be held 7:30 p.m. May
10 in the Dubin—Meeting
Room of the Bnai Brith
Building. Parents are in-
vited to attend.
Applications are due
today for participants in
this year's Elections'
Training Conclave which
will take place May 14-16
at Camp Maas. The pro-
gram will feature officer
skills training for incom-
ing chapter leadership at
AZA and BBG Council
elections.
A highlight of the
weekend will be a presenta-
tion by Mark Nichols of the
Dale Carnegie Institute on
self-awareness and self-
confidence. A dance will be
held on Saturday night with
music provided by Chris
O'Brien.
