annual installation of offi-
cers 12:15 p.m. May 13 at
Cong. Shaarey Zedek.
Coffee and cake will be
served by the Shaarey
Zedek Sisterhodd, whose
president, Joyce Blum, will
give the invocation. Instal-
ling Officer will be Rhea
Appelman, past president of
the league.
President of the League of
Jewish Women's Organiza-
tions, Marilyn Schakne,
announces that Sister Carol
will be honored "for her
dedication and outstanding
contribution to education on
the struggle of the Jewish
people and the teaching of
the Holocaust."
Also in attendance will
be Sister Agnes Mary
Mansour, president of
Mercy College of Detroit;
and Sister Mary Ann Di-
llon, provincial adminis-
trator, Sisters of Mercy of
Pennsylvania.
At Mercy College, Sister
Carol also is the adjunct
assistant professor of inter-
disciplinary studies, reli-
gious studies and English.
In March 1981, Sister
Carol received the Brother-
hood Award of the Jewish
War Veterans, Department
of Michigan: The Michigan
Psychiatric Society
awarded her its distin-
guished service award in
April 1981.
She has been active in
promoting Holocaust edu-
cation and directed a lecture
series and art exhibit
entitled, "After Auschwitz:
Vision or Void?" in 1980 at
Mercy.
Locally, Sister Carol is
a member of the Detroit
Interfaith Committee on
Teaching About the
Holocaust, the Detroit
Round Table of the Na-
tional Conference of
Christians and Jews and
the Detroit Holocaust
Memorial Committee.
Nationally, she is a
member of the National In-
stitute on the Holocaust,
Association of Governing
Boards of Universities and
Colleges and the National
Council of Teachers of
English.
The program for the af-
ternoon will be "Michigah
Opera Theater's Greatest
Hits — Operetta Encores"
to be presented by the Over-
ture to Opera Company of
the Michigan Opera Thea-
ter.
The public is invited at a
nominal charge.
