Women's League Installation to Feature Opera Entertainment
The 55th annual installa-
tion of officers of the League
of Jewish Women's Organ-
izations of Greater Detroit
will take place at Cong.
Shaarey Zedek May 13 at
12:15 p.m. Coffee and cake
will be served by the sister-
hood of Cong. Shaarey
Zedek whose president,
Joyce Blum, will give the
invocation. Installing offi-
cer will be Rhea Appelman,
past president of the league.
Marilyn Schakne,
president of the league, an-
nounces that this meeting
will honor Sister Carol
Rittner, assistant to the vice
president for academic and
student affairs at Mercy
College of Detroit, "for her
dedication and outstanding
contribution to education on
the struggle of the Jewish
people and the teaching of
the Holocaust."
In March 1981, as direc-
tor of the learning resource
center at Mercy College of
Detroit, Sister Carol was
the recipient of the Jewish
War Veterans, Department
by the Overture to Opera
Company of the Michigan
Opera Theater whose gen-
eral director is Dr. David
DiChiera.
Overture to Opera
Company members star-
ring in the program will
be soprano Marilyn Hed-
quist and baritone Mark
Vondrak, accompanied
by Jamey Clark at the
piano. Director of Michi-
gan Opera Theater's
Education Department is
Mrs. Karen DiChiera.
Program Vice President
is Marjorie Saulson.
Nominating Chairman is
Anita Baar, immediate past
president. The public is in-
vited. There is a nominal
fee. No reservations are re-
