Agencies of the Jewish
Welfare Federation were
preparing for weeks for
Passover.
At the Jewish Vocational
Service in Oak Park, staf-
fers and volunteers worked
with Rabbi Solomon H.
Gruskin to prepare a Seder
for nearly 200 handicapped
and elderly persons. The
Seder has become an annual
event for persons enrolled in
programs of JVS and the
Community Workshop.
Working with Rabbi and
Mrs. Gruskin to plan and
prepare the Seder were vol-
unteers from the local
Cooperative Council of the
League of Jewish Women's
Organizations, as well as
JVS workers.
JVS workers also assisted
in the delivery of Passover
foods to Project Outreach
clients — isolated elderly
and disabled individuals.
Many Russian immig-
rants participated in a
Seder that was con-
ducted in their native
language at the Jimmy
Prentis Morris branch of
the Jewish Community

A Seder plate and Haggada used at the Russian-
language Seder at the Jewish Community Center.

Center. Russian lan-
guage Haggadot were
used as leader Leonid
Makarov-Limanov led
the Seder.
The Jewish Home for
Aged held Seders at both
the Borman Hall and Pre-
ntis Manor facilities. Prior
to the holiday, a com-
prehensive in-service train-
ing program was launched
to familiarize all non-
Jewish personnel with the
history and meaning of the
holiday. It was directed by
Ira Zeidman.
- Sinai Hospital Chaplain
Allan Blustein prepared in-
formative programs that
were shown on the hospi-
tal's closed-circuit televi-
sion channel. Jewish
patients also received a
plate of traditional Pesach
foods and a Haggada the
first night, while non-
Jewish patients joined in
the celebration with a glass
of wine or grape juice and
Passover greetings.
To acquaint the Christian
community with Passover,
the Jewish Community
Council sponsored a model
Seder and workshop in
March for more than 50
clergy and church leaders.
Rabbi Lane Steinger of
Temple Emanu-El led the
program, which included a
tour of the sanctuary.
Students at United He-
brew Schools partici-
pated in model Seders at
UHS branches. An added
highlight of UHS' Pesach
celebrations was the spe-
cial education classes'
Seder conducted at Cong.
Bnai David by Rabbi Ab-
raham Zentman. In prep-
aration for the event,
teachers Arlene Millman,
Sarah Kahn and Bayla
Landsman, and aide
Dena Schramm taught
the children, who are
learning disabled and
multiply disabled, the
Four Questions and the
story and songs of the
holiday.
Members of a youth group
at Adat Shalom Synagogue
sent home-made Passover
cards to the residents of
Jewish Federation Apart-
ments, who held a Seder the
first night.
Through the cooperative
efforts of workers at the
Jewish Family Service and
volunteers for Mo'os Hitim
(Passover fund for the
needy), more than 450 per-
sons — immigrants, the un-
employed and others — re-
ceived matza, wine and
Passover goods. Volunteers
distributed the items from
