13 Basic Causes Are Significant
for Nosanchuk's 2nd Bar Mitzva

Max Nosanchuk was nine
when he came to this coun-
try. He had the duties of as-
sisting in providing a family
income. As a newsboy, espe-
cially on Saturday nights
when his labors dragged
past midnight, he had
limited time for studies.
Therefore his Bar Mitzva
at Cong. Bnai David (then
e-Beth David) on Winder
_ reet in the Hastings area
was a routine call to the To-
rah.
Now 60 years later, as he
approaches his 73rd birth-
day, he is commencing to

is to have a more impressive
Bar Mitzva service, and the
second to have a high school
diploma.
The first is being at-
tained. He will be called
to the Torah at Cong.
Beth Achim on the last
day of Passover, April 15,
and will recite the Maftir,
Isaiah 10:32-12:6.
He is also attaining his
second goal. Four times a
week he now attends special
classes in Southfield, study-
ing the basics of grammar
and other required subjects,
and within a year he will
have his high school dip-
loma in his present home
city of Southfield.
He had been a carpenter's
helper to his father as a
child, then, with his wife
May, developed the plumb-
ing business which marked
his successes and enabled
him in the past 15 years to
have leadership roles in
many causes.
He has top roles in Israel
Bonds, is active in Zionist
movements, gains recogni-
tion as a world traveler and

Dr. Steven Michael Pol-
lens, son of Dr. and Mrs.
Louis Pollens of Southfield,
was graduated from the
Michigan State University
College of Human Medicine
and will pursue a residency
in family practice.

Chabad Lubavitch, Bnai
Brith, Anti-Defamation
League, Hebrew Univer-
sity, Cong. Beth Achim,
Bar-Ilan University,
Shaare Zedek Hospital in
Jerusalem, Technion and
ORT.

Jewish Center to Have Camp Reunion

The Jewish Community
Center will have a "roller
boogie reunion" for alumni
of its summer day camp
program 10 a.m. April 12 at
Bonaventure roller rink.
Children in kindergarten
through 10th grade are in-
vited. Trophies will be
awarded to the roller boogie
king and queen. There also
will be prizes and a camp
souvenir for everyone.
Bus transporation is
available at 9 a.m. from the
Jimmy Prentis Morris
Branch in Oak Park and at
9:30 a.m. from the main
Center complex.
Reservations for
transportation are re-
quired. For reservations
by Tuesday, call the Cen-
ter's group services
office, 661-1000, ext. 251.
This year's day camp pro-
gram will take place June

28-July 23 and July 26-Aug.
20. Full- and half-day pro-=
grams are available, and a
special child-care option for

pre-schoolers and kinder-
garteners is offered. Camp
activities are geared for
children age 3-15.
