Israelis to Entertain at Independence Day
Celebration . 9 Memorial Event Set April 26

The Amranim Brothers
will be the featured
entertainment for Detroit's

celebration of Israel's 34th
Independence Day to be
held May 2 in Southfield.

field Civic Center.
Michael Feldman, gen-
eral chairman of the day,
announced that a contest
judging the floats will
take place during the
parade. Prizes will be
awarded on the basis of
originality, spirit, over all
excellence and corn-
. pliance with the theme of
the day, "Israel — the
Land, the Country, the
People."

11 a.m. The entertainment
will follow the parade.
In conjunction with Israel
Independence Day, a pro-
gram commemorating Yom
Hazikaron, Israel's memo-
rial day, will be held 7:30
p.m. April 26 at the main
JeWish Community Center.
Participating will be
_Rabbi Henoch Millen of
Akiva Hebrew Day School
and Cantor Chaim Najman
of Cong. Shaarey Zedek.
There will be a flag cere-
mony conducted by the
-
Habonim youth group.
In memory of the
soldiers who fought in Is-
rael's four wars, torches
will be lit by members of
the armed forces of Israel
who fought in those wars.
Pianist Fedora Horowitz
will be playing Israeli music
during the torch lighting
and a special torch for peace
will be lit by children from
